This fabric was really fun to sew with even though, I didn't use all of it. I paired it with some fabrics I had on hand. I was even sick for two weeks but when I got a moment where I could hold my head up....I was in the sewing room.
I purchased 5 different fabrics from this huge collection. I do intend to snag some more...I have ideas!
the tomatoes were just addicting for me, making another as soon as one was finished. I used the fabric and some basics from my big scrap pile. Felt, some stitching and a button for the top & bottom.

I fell asleep in the chair, with tomato sections, felt leaves and threads.....not to mention the scissors.......in my lap two afternoons. Gosh I'm glad I got better... I really don't have time for naps....or surgical stitches .
Then, I made an Ironing Board Cover...because I really needed one.
My favorite Handmaid is quilted and placed on an angle. I stitched around the spool of thread and tufted a bit of batting underneath. A mini pin cushion in place, to hold a pin or two while I'm pressing.
I pulled the old cover off and salvaged the casing & elastic cording. It seemed silly and wasteful to toss....so I re-used it & that made me happy.
I continued with making the cover by flipping the board face down onto my fabric. I left enough fabric for the sides and for turning a hem... I pinned the casing and sewed all the way around.
I used a piece of heavy fleece for insulation. I laid it on top of the board. I cut very close to the edge, so that when the cover went over it, it was nice and snug. Perfect! Then I ironed it & have used the board several times already and love it!
the next time you take a notion to make a cover....check it out really good... could be something there that you may be able to re-use. Don't we love, when that happens ;)
and the metal rack iron caddy that usually sits at the end ...well, that I tossed. I never liked that darn thing...and felt really good about making my things...work the way I need them. I put it in my second hand-donation box.
Now, hmmm... maybe a bag...yep...
a very big bag... (16" high 12" diameter).
A friend asked me to make this for her yarn. So, I did. It's a very simple, lined, two handle bag to grab for class or knit meets.
the green fabrics on the board & the yellow for the bag...were in my stash already. I love how this fabric collection goes with almost any fabric on hand. Not often, is it this easy to step outside of a collection.
